Place secured on G-Cloud 15 for Thalamos as Mental Health Act reform raises the bar on compliance

Thalamos has secured its place on G-Cloud 15, the UK Government’s newly relaunched cloud procurement framework.
It’s a listing Thalamos has held since securing G-Cloud 12 status in 2020, and one that gives NHS Mental Health Trusts, Integrated Care Systems, Local Authorities and policing partners a streamlined route to procure the Thalamos platform. This comes as the legislative framework it digitises (the Mental Health Act) is itself being reformed.
The Thalamos eMHA platform digitises the paperwork and processes behind detention, treatment and discharge, the point in a patient’s care where legal rights, clinical risk and administrative accuracy all meet, under the Mental Health Act 2025. It is already live across NHS Mental Health Trusts throughout England and is now extending further, with new acute-specific eMHA licences bringing the platform into acute hospitals, alongside the ongoing rollout of Dr Finder, a Section 12 doctor booking and payment module.
The offering behind Thalamos’ G-Cloud listing has also grown since 2024. eMHA by Thalamos now covers Mental Capacity Act pathways alongside the Mental Health Act, including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Best Interests Assessments, bringing the safeguards around restriction of liberty under both legal frameworks into one system.
Thalamos is the only Mental Health Act administration system used by national partners including the Care Quality Commission’s SOAD Service and British Transport Police, which uses MH Forms, the Thalamos module built for policing teams handling Section 136 and related incidents, alongside Thalamos’ deployments across NHS Mental Health Trusts.
Behind the product sits an important governance layer, the Thalamos Responsible Innovation Group, a standing panel spanning legislative compliance, clinical safety, lived experience and data governance, set up to embed compliance into the platform by design rather than review it after the fact.
The launch of G-Cloud 15 represents a bigger change than previous framework refreshes. The Government has described it as the “biggest overhaul” since G-Cloud launched in 2012, merging three separate frameworks into one and extending contract terms to as long as five years. It’s also the first iteration to run under the Procurement Act 2023, a structural reform of how public bodies buy digital services.
At the same time, the Mental Health Act is undergoing its own reform, raising standards on how organisations must evidence compliance and placing choice and autonomy, least restriction, therapeutic benefit and the person as an individual at the centre of how the Act is used. For NHS boards and Mental Health Act leads, that means being able to show, case by case, that decisions reflect those principles in practice, rather than simply that the paperwork was completed correctly.
That combination, a reformed buying route and a reformed law, is why Thalamos sees this listing as far more than an administrative renewal.

For frontline clinical and administrative staff, the practical case remains the one Thalamos has built its reputation on: faster, simpler statutory workflows that reduce error and risk, and free up clinical time. In acute settings, eMHA by Thalamos improves visibility and flow through emergency departments and reduces risk for these service providers. For executive teams and boards, the case is different: governance, audit trail, and the ability to demonstrate compliance with a law that is actively changing. Thalamos has also formalised a consultancy service under G-Cloud 15 to support that second conversation directly, helping Trusts, ICSs and forces manage the discovery, change management and delivery assurance that come with adopting or scaling a system like this, rather than leaving that work to the organisation alone.
Thalamos digital services will become available on G-Cloud 15 in the week commencing 7 September 2026, when full service and pricing details will be listed on the Digital Marketplace. Procurement through G-Cloud 14 is available through 28 October.
